Faridabad: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour for two years on the pretext of marriage here, police said today.
The girl complained that Raju Rawat (22), who stays in her neighbourhood and hails from Mathura in UP, has been raping her for the last two years on the pretext of getting married to her, according to the FIR.
The girl left her house on July 17 without informing anyone as Raju told her that he wished to get married to her the same day, they said.
He took her to a restaurant in Seekri near Palwal and again raped her, they said.
Later, he left the restaurant leaving her behind on the pretext of going to purchase things needed for the marriage but he did not return, they said.
The girl returned to Faridabad and approached Sector-55 Faridabad police station, they said, adding that a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
A probe is underway in the case, Investigating Officer ASI Rajbala said.
