Telangana: Couple set ablaze by relatives for practising ‘black magic’

Hyderabad:A married couple was on Thursday set ablaze allegedly by their relatives who suspected they practised black magic, police said.

Sudarshan (50) and his wife Rajeshwari (45), residents of Dubbak town in Siddipet District, suffered 90 per cent burns and are said to be in critical condition, they said.

According to Srinivas, Sub-Inspector at Bhoompally Police Station, the husband-wife duo was tied to a pole opposite their house by their relatives.

The couple’s kin alleged they practised black magic and were responsible for problems in their lives. They poured kerosene on Sudarshan and Rajeshwari, and set them afire, the police officer said.

They were rescued by the police and villagers and shifted to Dubbak government hospital and later to Gandhi Hospital here for treatment, he said.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident, the officer added.
