Telangana industrial policies get good response at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Los Angeles


Telangana Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has participated in the 9th Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indians and Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in Los Angeles.

The presentation made by Jupally Krishna Rao on the vision of Telangana, Industrial policy framework – TS iPASS, initiatives of the Telangana government, priority sectors, opportunity for Start-ups in the State and so on had an overwhelming reception from the Indo-American community.

Addressing the gathering, Krishna Rao has said, “The occasion aims at meaningful interface with Indian Diaspora for securing renewal of their connectivity with their ancestral motherland on the one hand, and to evaluate their expectations from the land of their origin and to grab an opportunity to reciprocate their precious sentiments.” He also said the abundant natural resources, huge skilled manpower, large land bank, assured power supply round-the-clock, favourable seismological conditions, extensive road, rail and air connectivity, graft-free regime of public administration, solid political stability, strongest-ever will of the Government to support and promote industry, trade and business are some of the highlights that create both for an entrepreneur and also for the State government and people of Telangana.

The Minister informed the participants on the action plans detailed out by the Government to provide world-class infrastructure in Hyderabad to supplement facilities like the international airport, Outer Ring Road and Metro, including the development of sectoral clusters like pharma city, a movie city, medical devices park, Food processing park, Information Technology Investment Region and so on. While inviting the overseas Indians to invest in Telangana, Jupally said, “With our policies, we will ensure that you get a decent return on your investments. On top of it, you will have the satisfaction of paying back the debt of gratitude to your motherland. I need not underline that the first movers will always have great advantage. I invite you to grab this timely opportunity now and join us in scripting the extraordinary growth story of Telangana and India.”

The convention with the theme “The Indian Diaspora: Defining a New Paradigm in India-US Relationship” kicked off with a colourful cultural show in the city of Los Angeles that is home to nearly five lakh Indians. The two-day meeting witnessed over 1000 participants, primarily the Indian Diaspora in the USA. MoS, (External Affairs) V K Singh delivered a keynote address, while India Ambassador to the USA Arun K. Singh and Consul General of India in San Francisco Venkatesan Ashok, Congressman Brad Sherman, Congresswomen Judy Chu, and so on were among those present.

Arun K Singh said there is increasing desire among the diaspora to connect with India. There is also a consciousness about growing opportunities in India. As India is rising, there is growing desire among diaspora to engage with India.

Krishna Rao also had one-to-one meetings with leaders of some 20 enterprises and start-up community, discussing about the investment opportunities in Telangana. The minister also discussed the opportunities and potentials of setting up a dedicated auto components manufacturing cluster in Telangana. (NSS)
