Telangana: Massive fire broke out at Paint storage godown

Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out at a paint storage godown in Secuderabad’s Rani Gunj area on Friday evening.

As many as 80 firefighters and 12 fire tenders were deployed to contain the fire. The Fire reportedly started around 6 pm yesterday. Locals who noticed smoke and fire emanating out alerted the Police.

District Officer Srinivas Reddy speaking on it said: “It is a major fire; we are trying to bring it under control, so that it does not spread to nearby buildings. About 40 people were evacuated from a nearby building. Due to flammable materials stored in the godown, it is taking a lot of time to douse the flames.”

“There were no injuries or fatalities. Nodal officers from GHMC are helping the firefighters in evacuating people from nearby buildings,” said Janardhan Reddy, GHMC commissioner, adding, “I advise people in the area to wear breathing masks. There are paint droplets and mist in the air.” The property damage is estimated to be around Rs 25 lakh.

The estimated property damage gutted in the fire is around 25 Lakhs.
