Telangana seeks help for entities dealing in perishable items

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government today urged the Centre to provide relief to sectors dealing in perishable items in the wake of demonetisation of high-value currency notes which has hit their business.

Finance Minister E Rajender, in a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, appealed for immediate steps for the survival and sustenance of poultry, dairy, vegetable sectors among others following the cash recall exercise.

The intervention of RBI should be sought for granting moratorium for a period of one year on repayment of interest and instalments toward term loans availed by such industries, Rajender said.

The outstanding term loans should be rescheduled and some succour be provided to farmers who are facing severe financial crisis due to drop in sales and low-end product rates, he said.
