Telangana students in Govt residential schools to get blankets

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government today decided to distribute blankets to students of state-run residential schools in view of falling mercury levels.

The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing cold environment and reports of Met office that minimum temperatures would fall further, a Government release said.

Minimum temperatures ranging between 10-15 degrees Celsius are being reported at different places in the State for the last several days.

A meeting held by Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, who handles education portfolio, decided that the blankets be distributed before December 15, it said.

The blankets would be distributed to over one lakh students in the Government-run schools, including Model Schools and Kasturba Gandhi vidyalayas, and the move would cost about Rs 2.50 crore, the release added.
