Telangana Waqf Board to be formed next week, Mohammed Saleem to be Chairman

Hyderabad: According to Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali Telangana Waqf Board would be formed on 10th or 11th of January 17 and Mr. Mohammed Saleem will be the chairman of the Board. In a function held here at Hajj House Deputy Chief Minister told that an honest and sincere person was required for better performance of Waqf Board hence Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has appointed Mr. Mohammed Saleem for the post, who has also rendered remarkable services in the past as Waqf Board Chairman.

He further said several controversies surfaced in the Waqf Board regarding its performance in the past hence government wants to make the present Board free of controversies and wants to increase revenue.

Mr. Mahmood Ali added that the target is to increase the revenue of Waqf Board from present 7 Cr to 70 Cr. The 77000 acre Waqf land under 34000 Waqf properties, if utilised properly would general sufficient revenue which can be utilised for development of minorities and construction and repair of masajid. He expressed surprise that the Waqf Board possessing properties worth thousands of crores of rupees depends upon the government budget for releasing salaries to its employees. He warned against irregularities and corruption in the Board.
