Tesla to recall over 7,000 cars in China to repair seat belts

Beijing :Tesla Motors will recall 7,166 units of its battery-powered luxury sedan Model S in China from today due to defective seat belts, country’s top quality watchdog said.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between May 1, 2012 and November 12 this year, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said today.

The front seat belts of the vehicles are not properly connected. The company will check and fix the problem free of cost. The recall starts from today, the US-based Automotive company said.

The problem of a seatbelt assembly breaking was discovered last month when a Model S customer in Europe reported it to the company.

Last year, Tesla recalled 29,222 Model S sedans over a charging defect.
