T’gana: ACB unearths Rs 10 crore assets of govt official

Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today unearthed assets worth Rs 10 crore allegedly belonging to a senior official of the Mines and Geology Department in Suryapet district of Telangana.

Based on a tip-off, a case of disproportionate assets was registered against G Sudhakar Reddy, Assistant Director of the department in Suryapet district and simulatenous searches were conducted at his and his relatives’ residences in different parts of the state, an official release said here.

During the searches, it came to light that Reddy had acquired properties in the name of his family members, relatives and benamis that included six open plots, 63 acres of agriculture land, one new house, investment of Rs 82 lakh in a wine shop, bank balance of Rs 12 lakh, insurance policies of Rs 10 lakh, half kg gold, 3.5 kg silver, investments of Rs 30 lakh in two granite factories, one four wheeler and one two-wheeler, it added.

“Total assets worth Rs 3.6 crore as per documentary value were unearthed during the searches, while the open market value of the properties is approximately Rs 10 crore,” the release said adding that the case is under investigation.
