Third day of Monsoon Session: RS adjourned for the day

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Amidst uproar for the third consecutive day over the former IPL chief Lalit Modi episode and the Vyapam scam, both the Houses of Parliament adjourned for the day.

On the third day of the Monsoon Session, both Houses suffered repeated adjournments over a number of issues.

In the Lok Sabha, several opposition members, including Mallikarjun Kharge, gave notices for the suspension of Question Hour to take up the issues. However, Speaker Sumitra Majahan rejected the notices.

BJP Chief Whip Arjun Ram Meghwal wanted to move a privilege motion against Robert Vadra.

Mr Vadra allegedly wrote some castigating remarks against parliamentarians on his facebook page.

The House witnessed unprecedented noisy scenes, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till tomorrow.

The Rajya Sabha also witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session amid uproar over the Lalit Modi episode with the opposition Congress continuously pressing for the resignation of the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

As the House re-assembled at noon after its first adjournment, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari wanted to take up Question Hour, but the opposition refused to yield.

As the noisy scenes continued, Vice President Ansari adjourned the House further till 2 p.m., before deciding to adjourn it for the day. (ANI)
