Three injured in CPIM-TMC clash

Chinsurah: Three Trinamool Congress supporters were injured and the CPI(M) zonal party office was allegedly set aflame in a clash between two sides when a Marxist rally was passing by Tarakeswar in Hooghly district this afternoon.

TMC-run Tarakeswar Municipality Chairman Swapan Samanta claimed the three party men were injured by armed CPIM) men who charged towards the TMC supporters present in the area without any provocation while taking out a rally.

Countering the charge, former CPI(M) MP Shaktimohan Malik said, the TMC ‘goons’ carried attack on the left rallyists and severely beat them up including local leaders.

Malik further alleged the TMC men set ablaze the CPI(M) zonal office nearby and damaged and ransacked furnitures and photos inside the office.

Superintendent of Police Praveen Tripathy said police heard about the incident and a force was rushed to the area.
