‘Tired of abusing me, Nitish now cursing Biharis’: PM

Gopalganj (Bihar): With barely few hours left for campaigning for the fourth phase of assembly polls in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday fired a fresh salvo at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and alleged that he was now cursing Biharis after getting tired of hurling abuses at him.

Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing a rally here, drew the attention of the voters to the absurd statements being made by the grand alliance, which he dubbed as ‘Mahaswarthbandhan’.

“The words in their dictionary are over, and every new day, they are hurling fresh abuses. I wonder how the people who have ruled Bihar for so many years are making such statements. Why have they stooped to such levels?” asked Prime Minister Modi.

“I was thinking about the reason behind this, the reason is not because Modi has made any mistake or done anything wrong. The reason is they are not able to digest your love for Modi. It seems your love for Modi prompts them to make such statements. The way your love for me is increasing, so are their abuses for me,” he added.

Asserting that the NDA is running a successful election campaign in the poll-bound state, Prime Minister Modi asked Nitish the reason behind his anger and advocated that there is a win and a defeat in every election.

“Nitish Babu (Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar), there is a win and a defeat in every election. Why are you getting so livid? Now, that you are tired of hurling abuses at Modi, you have begun abusing the Biharis. After getting tired of making accusations against Modi, you have begun accusing the Biharis. Nitish Babu, the insult of the Biharis will cost you heavily,” he said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the manner in which the leaders of the grand alliance are reacting shows how popular the NDA is among the people.

“They have alleged that people who come in Modi rallies are brought after paying money. Isn’t this an insult to all Biharis? They will pay a price for it. Nitish Babu (Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar) call me whatever you want to, but don’t hurt the sentiments of Biharis,” he said.

“The swelling crowd here shows the mood of Bihar. Bihar is angry because it is asking for the accounts of the work done in the past 25 years, which you are not willing to give,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to take potshots at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and alleged that Gopalganj had become a mini-Chambal during the days of jungle raj in Bihar.

“Gopalganj is dear to Laluji, what did Gopalganj get, didn’t the area become a mini-Chambal during jungle raj. Bullets were being fired at railway stations during broad daylight, there was only one industry kidnapping,” he said.

He alleged that Lalu Yadav, the ‘Bada bhai’, in the grand alliance is concerned only about his family.

“Is ‘Bada Bhai’ ( Lalu) concerned about anybody? He is busy with his sons and family. Does he even trust his own party leaders? When he went to jail, he gave the charge to his wife. Now, that he will spend his entire life in jail, he wants his sons to be ready so that he can spend his time calmly in jail,” he said.

Reiterating his development agenda, Prime Minister Modi said maximum migration in Bihar has happened from Siwan and Gopalganj.

“When I went to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, I met all the Indian labourers in the labour colony there. I asked them where did they come from, most of them were from Bihar in Gopalganj. Who compelled you (the Bihari youth) to go outside looking for jobs leaving your old parents at home? Who made Bihari youth outsiders? Our aim is to make sure that the people get employment opportunities in the state itself,” Prime Minister Modi said.

“If we want a solution to all this then there is only one way left that is ‘Bihar ka Vikas’. Only ‘Bihar ka Vikas’ can save the state from destruction. You had faith in me during 2014 Lok Sabha, do the same now and I will finish ‘bhai-bhatijawad’ and ‘bhrashtachaar’ (nepotism and corruption),” he added.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the leaders of the grand alliance have been hurling abuses but have not made any allegation of corruption against him.

“I want to stop the corruption. This election is also to punish those who have looted Bihar. Nitish Babu says return me the old days, does he want those days when kidnappings happened, women were not safe, crimes against Dalits happened,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“Then, Nitish Babu you may want the old day for staying in power, but the people of Bihar don’t want them back,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi also reached out to the lower strata of the society, saying he had seen poverty from very close.

“They say that Modi has changed his profile, earlier he spoke of development, now he talks of his OBC status. I want to ask them whether OBCs are not allowed to talk of development,” said Prime Minister Modi.

“They are so desperate now that they have resorted to ‘tantriks’ (witchcraft). You can get a hundred ‘tantriks’, but it will not help,” he added.

Expressing confidence of the BJP-led NDA’s splendid show in the polls, Prime Minister Modi said that he has immense faith in the people of Bihar.

“As voting will start for fourth phase, they will be wiped out from the state. I have full faith that you will give us a two-third majority in the remaining two phases,” he added.

Campaigning for the fourth phase of elections will come to an end this evening. This phase of election will be held on Sunday in 55 constituencies spread over seven districts of the state. The districts are Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, East and West Champaran. (ANI)
