TN rains: Large number of trains cancelled

Bhubaneswar: Around 20 trains passing through and originating from East Coast Railway (ECoR) were cancelled due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu that has breached railway tracks at several places.

Breaches occurred in Southern Railway and South Central Railway because of which train services were severely affected, an ECoR release said here today.

Among the trains cancelled were 12841 Howrah-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, 12840 Chennai Central Howrah Mail, 12842 Chennai-Howrah Coromandel Express, 13352 Alppuzha-Dhanbad Express, 22604 Villupuram-Kharagpur Express, 12897 Pondicherry-Bhubaneswar Express, 12868 Pondicherry-Howrah Express, 13351 Dhanbad-Alppuzha Express, 17488 Visakhapatnam-Tirupati, Visakhapatnam-Tirupati, 12516 Guwahati- Trivendrum central Express, it said.

Also cancelled were 06335 Guwahati-Kochuveli Express, 08301 Sambalpur-Yesvantpur Special Express, 18464 Bangalore-Bhubaneswar Prasanthi Express, 12552 Kamakhya-Yesvantapur Express, it said.

The 12830 Bhubaneswar-Chennai Express, 22808 Chennai Central-Santragachchi Express, 22826 Chennai Central-Shalimar Express and 17479 Puri-Tirupati Express have been cancelled tomorrow, it said.

This apart 15630 Guwahati-Chennai Central Express and 08302 Yesvantpur-Sambalpur Special Express on November 20 have been cancelled, the release added.
