Admitting that he could be blamed for the rise of IS, Tony Blair has finally said sorry for the Iraq War. Blair repeatedly says sorry for his conduct and even claimed that the invasion was a “war crime”.

Blair was asked in the CNN interview ‘Was the Iraq War a mistake?’ he replies: ‘I apologize for the fact that the intelligence we received was wrong’.

He also that it was a mistake which gave rise to Islamic State. He added that those who removed Saddam Husain in 2003 bear responsibility for the situation in 2015. Earlier, in 2004 he told MPs that he will not apologize for the conflict and he believes it was right.

CNN interviewer Zakaria, a friend of Blair, praised him for taking responsibility for Iraq on camera. She said that most of the others involved in the attack, senior US political and military officials blamed each other.

Recently, Blair’s most loyal Ministers, Lord Blunkett said that Blair failed to give him assurances that the US had a plan to govern Iraq after the fall of Saddam Husain. He instead placed his blind faith in the US administration, Vice-President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld which led to the disintegration of any form of functioning government and created power vacuum. This vacuum gave chance to terrorists to infiltrate in Iraq.

Blair claimed that he changed his mind after watching the post-war turmoil and the rise of IS.
