TPCC alleges multi-crore graft in Mallannasagar project

Hyderabad: TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that the TRS government was taken up Mallannasagar Reservoir only to get crores of rupees of commissions from the contractors.
Addressing the Forum for Godavari Waters Utilisation chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy’s deksha at Indira Park here on Sunday held in support of Mallannasagar project land oustees, Uttam Kumar Reddy made it clear that the Congress party will wage war till the farmers meet with justice. He alleged that the TRS government kept aside the Pranahitha-Chevella project, which was viable technically, and has taken up Kaleswaram project in the name of redesigning, only to indulge in irregularities. He said that the experts were saying that a small sump house was enough at Mallannasagar but the state government was taking up huge reservoir construction to store 50 tmcft of water at the cost of farmers. The government was threatening the farmers, who were taking up dharnas and various protest programs in democratic manner, and resorting to lathi-charge and arrests. The government acquiring land forcefully by threatening the farmers, he asserted and said that there was no atrocious thing than acquiring land forcefully from the farmers in democratic country. The government was acquiring land introducing G.O.No.123 instead of implementing Land Acquisition Act-2013.
The government was purchasing lands at low cost from the farmers, he lamented describing the act as an anti-constitutional one. The government was also not compensating the landless poor and professionals in the villages, he said stating that the Congress party would wage war on all fronts to do justice to all section of people.
