TPCC pays rich tributes to Moulana Azad

The leaders of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee have paid rich tributes to India’s first education minister Moulana Abul Kalaam Azad on the occasion of his 127th birth anniversary on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting organised by TPCC’s Minorities Department at Gandhi Bhavan, Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao described Moulana Azad as an Islamic scholar who fully favoured modern education. He said Moulana Azad had served as education minister for two terms and he laid a strong foundation for the country’s march towards modern and scientific education. He also recalled the sacrifices made by Moulana Azad during the freedom movement.

TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also recalled the services of Moulana Azad for the country and also for the Congress party. He said Moulana Azad firmly believed in secularism. He said that the Congress party still follows his ideals and have always worked for the equal development of minorities in the country.

Bhatti also criticised the TRS Government for not providing fee reimbursement and scholarships to students of minority communities.

Former MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud said that Moulana Azad’s ideals should be followed to strengthen country’s secular credentials.

The event was presided by Minorities Department president Mohammed Fakhruddin and addressed by several senior leaders including Mallu Ravi, V. Kamalakar, Syed Yousuf Hashmi, S.K. Afzaluddin, Mohammed Sirajuddin and Mohd Meraj Khan. (INN)
