New Delhi: Many people gathered to see a glimpse of India’s fastest train, the Gatimaan Express, as it started its inaugural run from New Delhi to Agra yesterday.
The train takes 99 minutes to cover the distance between New Delhi and Agra at a speed of 160 km per hour.
It has an added attraction of train hostesses painted in royal blue and grey with a yellow strip in between. They welcomed passengers on board with roses.
Anil Saxena, Spokesman of Indian Railway told that attempts are being made to further reduce the travel time. Indian Railways plans to start similar trains on nine routes including Kanpur-New Delhi, Chandigarh- New Delhi, Hyderabad-Chennai, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Goa-Mumbai and Nagpur-Secunderabad.
