TRS blames Congress for farmers’ suicides

TRS MP B Suman today lashed out at the Congress for its persistent remarks against the TRS government on the issues relating to farmers, irrigation projects and other welfare and development works.

Speaking to mediapersons at TRS Legislature Party office here on Tuesday, Suman warned that the State government would take stringent action against the bank officials if they mounted pressure on the farmers on crop loan repayment. He alleged that the Centre has failed to accord national status to a single project in Telangana State so far.

The TRS MP accused the Congress leaders of deceiving the farmers and people by failing to check the farmers’ suicides and complete the pending irrigation projects during the Congress regime. Attributing the pathetic condition of farmers in the State to inefficient and corrupt rule of the previous government, he slammed former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy for forgetting that he used to target then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Bofors scandal.

Suman also pointed out that the Congress rulers set aside Swaminathan Committee’s recommendations for the welfare of the farmers which threw them in gloom. Comparing the Congress criticism as “ghosts chanting scriptures” Suman dared the Congress leaders to disclose the misdeeds of Komatireddy brothers, who should stop politicizing everything for selfish ends. “Our aim was to provide nine-hour free power supply to farmers during day and the leaders should support the efforts being made by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao”, he said.

The TRS MP also criticized Telangana BJP president G Kishen Reddy for “shedding crocodile tears” on the pitiable condition of the farmers. He said the BJP president should press the Centre to accord national status to Telangana irrigation projects. (NSS)
