TRS, Congress slugfest continues – Congress is ‘enemy’ of Telangana: KTR

Hyderabad: The ruling TRS party and Opposition Congress are indulging in a slugfest on the state issues even as IT Minister KT Rama Rao termed that the latter was the enemy of Telangana State, while Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy termed him a ‘bachcha’.

In retort, KTR said that if he is bachcha, then what is Rahul Gandhi, is not he a bachcha. He ridiculed the Congress leaders for family rule comments and expressed serious displeasure. Addressing an extended meeting of TRS students wing at Telangana Bhavan here, KTR fumed at the Congress for the forceful merger of Telangana into Andhra region to become Andhra Pradesh, suppressing 1969 statehood agitation and it had a truck with the TRS in 2004 and again deceived the Telangana people. He said that it is good for the Congress leaders like K Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy to maintain decency while talking against the government. The Congress leaders are just coming in the way of development works and they swindled funds during their regime, the minister fumed.

KT Rama Rao also sought to know as to why they failed to prevent Kiran Kumar Reddy government from spending Rs 9000 crore for providing drinking water to Chittoor district alone. If one district needs that much amount, why not 31 districts in Telangana need Rs 40,000 crore for providing drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha, he thundered. He said that the UPA led Government gave statehood as it feared of bleak future and that the people will revolt against it.

Referring to statehood movement, he said that the Congress often tried to suppress it while the TRS and its students’ wing played a key role. The TRS students will have to take forward the welfare programs and schemes to the people in villages in coordination with the MLAs, MLCs and local leaders. He said that the chief minister wants the student leaders to become a progress brigade and play lead role in future as KCR is making efforts for Bangaru Telangana. Stating that the void created by Jayashankar’s death will not be filled, he asked the students to work for Telangana besides studying for knowledge and working for people.(NSS)
