TRS government ‘wasting’ public money on new secretariat: Oppn

Hyderabad: Opposition Congress and BJP in Telangana today attacked the TRS government for allegedly not releasing the pending dues for different welfare programmes, but “wasting” public money on building a new secretariat.

“The Governor was told that a new secretariat would be built at a cost of Rs 350 crore. Is it good to empty the treasury by wasting public money? Farmers’ loan waiver and students’ tuition fees reimbursement are not being implemented,” Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Shabbir Ali said.

The TRS government’s scheme of double bed room houses for the poor is not moving forward, but a new camp office (for Chief Minister) is being built with Rs 35 crore, he claimed.

The government is turning the rich state of Telangana into poor, he alleged.

BJP floor leader in the Assembly G Kishan Reddy alleged the government allocated Rs 4,050 crore for farmers’ loan waiver in the Budget in March, but has made no payment till now.

There are pending dues of Rs 2,500 crore for students’ scholarships, Rs 2,200 crore towards food subsidy in implementing Re 1 per kg rice scheme and several others, he claimed.

“The Government has funds for building a new secretariat. But it does not have funds to waive the loans of farmers,” the BJP leader said.
