TRS MLC alleges corruption in Minorities Welfare Dept

Making a shocking statement, TRS MLC M.S. Prabhakar on Monday alleged that the Minorities Welfare Department was badly hit by corruption. He made the allegation in the presence of Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali and other senior leaders of ruling party.

Prabhkar was angry with the officials of MWD officials for continuously neglecting him in officials functions held at Haj House in open violation of the protocol. He said he was elected as MLC from the Hyderabad Local Constituency and deserves to be invited in all functions held at Haj House. He alleged that there was no coordination among the officials and the entire department was affected due to large scale corruption. He said although Cheif Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was serious on development of minorities, the targets were not being achieved due to “groupism” and “brokerism” among MWD officials.

MWD Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel first apologised with the MLC for not inviting him to the official functions. A few minutes later, he expressed his dissent over allegations against his department. He walked down from the dais and while standing near the Press Gallery, he announced that he would not like to continue on the post amid serious allegations of corruption against his team. Later, he left the Haj House.

On learning that Omer Jaleel had left the venue angrily, the Deputy CM directed other senior officials to call him back to Haj House. After repeated requests, Omer Jaleel returned to the Haj House and interacted with the Deputy CM. He reportedly told him that his department was wrongly being accused of indulging in corruption although the entire team has been working hard to implement the government schemes. He said he would seek his transfer to other departments if this spate of allegations continues against him and other officials of Minorities Welfare Department. A few minutes later, he again left the Haj House while the Dy CM and other senior officials were still present in the premises.

Interestingly, during his speech, the Deputy CM had praised the working of MWD officials. After these developments, the Deputy CM, in an informal chat with media persons, felt that Prabhakar should not have made such allegations. (INN)
