Lucknow: Three people were killed and nine others injured late Friday night when a speeding truck ran over them in Greater Noida, police said.
The victims were crossing the road when the truck hit them after ramming a horse-drawn cart. The dead include a woman. Angry over the accident, locals overpowered the drunk truck driver while he was fleeing the spot and beat him up severely. As police reached the spot and tried to rescue the erring driver, a mob attacked policemen and set a police vehicle afire. The injured have been admitted to a nearby medical facility, where the condition of two is said to be critical.
