Trump would be entitled to Nobel Prize if he resolves Kashmir dispute: Sartaj Aziz

Islamabad [Pakistan]: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that if U.S. president-elect Donald Trump succeeds in resolving the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan, he would be a deserving candidate for the Nobel Prize.

Responding to the offer of Trump to mediate between Pakistan and India, Sartaj Aziz said: “Trump would deserve a Nobel Prize if he helps resolve the Kashmir dispute.”

In an interview in October, Trump had said he would be pleased to mediate between Pakistan and India, reports Geo News.

“Well, I would love to see Pakistan and India get along, because that’s a very, very hot tinderbox.. That would be a very great thing. I hope they can do it,” Trump had said.

The statement was welcomed by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, with spokesman Nafees Zakaria saying that Pakistan was looking forward to working with the new US administration of president-elect Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Aziz also said that Pakistan will participate in the Heart of Asia Conference scheduled for December in India, amid continuing skirmishes along the border area between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The adviser said though India refused to participate in the19th SAARC conference, which was due to take place in Islamabad on November 15-16, yet Pakistan would not reciprocate the move.

The Heart of Asia conference is scheduled to be held during the first week of December in Amritsar, India.(ANI)
