TS got 73k Cr investment, created 2.73 lakh jobs: KTR

Industries Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the Telangana State has registered Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate of 10.1% in the year 2016-17.

Speaking after releasing the annual report of Industries Department at Haritha Plaza on Monday, KTR claimed that the Telangana State got an investment of Rs. 73,000 crore and jobs opportunities were created for 2.46 lakh people. He said besides Natural Resources and Mines, the Handloom and Textiles sector too have witnessed a significant growth rate. He said that the TS-iPass has revolutionised the process of industrialisation in the State. He said under TS-iPass, as many as 3800 industries were established during the last two years. He said 116 industrial parks were developed under the new industrial policy during the year 2016-17. Nearly 500 acres of land has been earmarked for new industries, he said.

KTR also informed that the Pharma City would be developed on 8,200 Acres of land. With a growth of 34%, the Mining sector earned revenues of Rs. 3,169 crore while sand mining fetched revenues of Rs. 419 crore. He said that the State Government was setting up Mega Food Parks in Gadwal, Khammam and Sangareddy.

The minister also unveiled the new logo of Industries Department. Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy and several senior officials were also present on the occasion. (INN)
