TS Govt increases compensation for electrocution victims

The Telangana Government has decided to increase the compensation amount for those who die of electrocution due to the negligence of energy department.

While the compensation was Rs. 50,000 in erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Government had increased it to Rs. 2 lakh. Following representations from different people, the government has now increased it to Rs. 4 lakh for the victims above 16 years of age. For those below 16 years, the amount has been raised to Rs. 2 lakh from Rs. 1 lakh earlier.

The compensation amounts will be paid only after verification by Assistant Director of Electricity Department (ADE – Operations). The official will ascertain whether the death was due to the negligence of department. In order to claim compensation, the family members need to get Death Certificate, FIR copy, Post Mortem Report and Post Mortem Panchnama copy. They can apply online from the website of NPDCL. (INN)
