TS Govt. says ‘no’ to married women in residential colleges

Hyderabad: Showing bias against married women, the Telangana government has declared ‘only’ unmarried women as eligible to pursue education in the social welfare residential women’s degree colleges in the state.

In the notification issued by Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS), applications for admissions into the residential degree colleges have been invited from unmarried women only. It is specifically mentioned that the TSWREIS invites applications from women (unmarried) candidates only for admission into BA/B.Com/B.Sc 1st year degree courses for the academic year 2017-18.

The government sees the unmarried women as a distraction in residential colleges.
