Tuberculosis awareness program held at Railway Central Hospital

Hyderabad, March 26 (INN): The Railway Central Hospital of South Central Railway conducted health education program on Tuberculosis on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day at its premises in Lallaguda in Secunderabad.

Dr. Ch. Padma, Sr. Divisional Medical Officer, Health & Family Welfare organized the awareness program while Dr. T.S.R. Murthy, Chief Staff Surgeon, Central Hospital, Lallaguda presided.

Dr. Pooja Datta, Sr. Divisional Medical Officer explained the participants regarding the symptoms of tuberculosis, diagnosis procedures and treatment of Tuberculosis. She also explained how HIV patients are more vulnerable to get infected by tuberculosis.

Dr. Ch. Padma informed about this year’s World TB Theme i.e. “Unite to end TB”. She detailed the audience about the need to spread the awareness of tuberculosis among the people in order to prevent the spread of Tuberculosis in the society. She also presented the details on the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short course) for Tuberculosis.

Dr T.S.R. Murthy spoke on how Tuberculosis spreads from person to person and what preventive measures to be taken to control its spread. Dr. Srikanta Mahapatra, Chief Physician spoke on the importance of taking medicines regularly to achieve normal health. He also spoke about multi drug resistant tuberculosis and how to avoid the phenomenon. Doubts raised by the beneficiaries were also clarified by the doctors. (INN)
