Tummala orders repair works of national highways

Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao has directed the officials concerned to take up repair works of national highways, which were part and parcel of theHyderabad city.

The Minister held a review meeting at E n C Office here on Friday along with NAC Executive Committee meeting. He asked the officials to address a letter to the Centre seeking permission for highway projects. He directed R&B Principal Secretary Sunil Sharma to see that adequate funds are released for the Indian Road Congress to be held from December 15 to 18 at Hitex.

On the other hand, the Minister, who was chairman of the National Academy of Construction (NAC), re-organised the NAC Committee and conducted the first meeting and made several resolutions on the occasion. They were—NAC Training Centers to be established in every district; the meeting urged the district Collectors to allot two to three rooms for NAC Training Centers at DRDA Training Centers located in every district head quarters to conduct training camps to the unemployed youth.

The Committee also directed the district collectors to examine the chances of giving training to enhance the skills in private engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges and ITIs; the meeting also took a resolution asking the contractors to withdraw the cases filed in courts on NAC corpus fund on behalf of Builders Association of India-Telangana wing; the meeting took a resolution urging the government to give Income Tax exemption on corpus fund; resolution for 320 new iron cots for the NAC Training Centers located in Hyderabad, Jagthyal; for the purchase of 60 computers to extend training to the unemployed youth while establishing computer lab; the increment and medical allowance to be increased from Rs.3500 to Rs.5000 to the employees as part of their welfare; the Arogya Bheema to be enhanced up to Rs.3 lakh; LIC insurance is increased from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh to every NAC employee.

ICAD ENC Vijay Prakash, R&B ENC Bikshapathi, Builders Association India-Telangana wing chairman Sugunakar Rao and others participated in the meeting. (NSS)
