Twitter to stay with 140-character limit

New Delhi: Micro-blogging site Twitter has announced that it would continue with its current 140-character limit ending speculations of raising the limit to 10,000-characters.

“It is staying. It is a good constraint for us and it allows for of-the-moment brevity,” the Reuters quoted Chief Executive Jack Dorsey as saying on a television show.

In January, technology news website Re/code reported that Twitter was building a new feature, which would allow tweets as long as 10,000 characters.

Dorsey had called it ‘a beautiful constraint’.

“We’re not going to be shy about building more utility and power into Twitter for people. As long as it’s consistent with what people want to do, we’re going to explore it,” Dorsey wrote in a screenshot of text that was longer than 140 characters. (ANI)
