Two arrested for drug peddling, say police

Srinagar: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested today and contraband seized from them in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, the police claimed today.

Ubaid Hussain Baba and Wajahat Hussain Rana, residents of Plan and Gundpora villages respectively, were intercepted by a police checking squad at Nowpora chowk, 50 kms from here, and arrested, a police spokesman said.

He claimed that the duo were “known drug peddlers and some contraband substance was recovered from their possession at the time of their arrest”.

Police had put a ‘naka’ in the area after getting information about their possible movement, the spokesman said.

He said a case was registered against them and further investigation is on.
