Two groups clash during idol immersion

Darbhanga: Two groups of people today clashed during an idol immersion procession in Biraul area of the district, forcing police to fire in the air to disperse them to bring situation under control, a senior official said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A K Satyarthi said the groups pelted stones at each other in Ghagjari village when they were going for immersion of idol of goddess Saraswati, and police had to fire in the air to control the situation.

The SSP and and District Magistrate Balamurgan D were camping at the site.

Satyarthi said two or three persons sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Additional forces have been deployed to nab the miscreants numbering around 30 to 40.
