Two killed as groups clash in Gujarat town

Mehsana:At least two persons were killed and several others were injured in violent clashes that broke out between two groups in Bahucharaji town of Mehsana district today, said police.

“The clashes broke out in Bahucharaji town as well as nearby Endla village over some previous enmity,” Mehsana Range IG Hasmukh Patel said.

According to him, at least two persons were killed in the violent clashes.

“Mobs of two different groups clashed at Endla and Bahucharaji over a past grudge. Two persons got killed in the clashes while several others were injured. We have started a process to lodge a case in this regard. The culprits will be nabbed soon,” said Patel.

According to local police of Bahucharaji, clashes broke out between Rabari and Rajput community. Police claimed that violent mob of more than 5,000 men, who were armed with sticks and other sharp weapons, have also set ablaze 12 bikes, a car and few shops during clashes.

A large number of policemen have been deployed to keep the situation under control.

“The situation is under control. We will carry out combing operation to nab those who were involved in the violence. Apart from more than 150 policemen, we have also deployed jawans of State Reserve Police(SRP) here” said Patel.
