Two Maoists killed in Warangal encounter

Two Maoists were reportedly killed in a fierce encounter between the Greyhounds and Maoists in the forest area near Vengalapur village under Tadvai mandal of Warangal district on Tuesday morning.

According to Warangal district superintendent of police Amber Kishore, while the Greyhounds were combing the forest area near Vengalapur for the Maoists in the morning hours, the latter came across and started firing at them. The encounter was reportedly going on since five hours. The SP said on receipt of information that Maoists were moving in Warangal district since the past two months, the Greyhound personnel started combing the forest areas in the district.

On Monday, the Maoists reportedly torched a JCB in Mallampally village under Mulug mandal. Maoist posters were sighted in Mogullapally and Chityal mandals some 20 days ago. The Maoists reportedly released wall-posters warning Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudanachary

of dire consequences.

Reports said the Maoists escaped after setting off a land mine in Bakkayyapet forest area. Knowing that KKW secretary Damodar dalam members were responsible for the landmine blast, the police personnel encircled the dalam members and both the groups are exchanging fire, it is learnt. (NSS)
