Two Pakistan naval ships in Lanka for joint naval training

Colombo: The Sri Lankan Navy has said asserted that two Pakistani naval ships have docked at the Colombo port for a four-day ‘goodwill’ visit.

The Commanding Officers of NASR and SAIF, Captain Shahzad Iqbal and Captain Saqib Ilyas, called on Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, at the Navy Headquarters on Tuesday.

A number of professional training activities were also planned between the two navies during the visit. One of the vessels had taken part in Sri Lanka’s tsunami relief operations in 2004. The navies of the two countries continue their close cooperation, the Sri Lankan navy said.
