Two women, members of Neguan royal family, found dead

Chhattarpur: Bodies of wife and daughter of the ruler of former princely state of Neguan, late Rai Vijay Bahadur Singh, were today found at their residence under suspicious circumstances, police said.

A milkman alerted the police that doors of the palace where the family lives had not been opened for the last two days. Inside, police found the bodies of Yuvrani (60) and Baby Raje (40), Naugaon police station in-charge Mrigendra Tripathi said.

Their hands were found touching a heater, so electrical shock could be the cause of death, he said.

But there were injury marks on the bodies too, leading to suspicion of assault. A forensic team was called to the crime spot and the bodies were sent for autopsy.

The probe will proceed after the autopsy report comes, Tripathi said.

Few months ago, jewellery worth Rs nearly one crore had been allegedly stolen from the palace, he said.

Vijay Bahadur died in a road accident a few years ago.

His son and daughter-in-law are away at Orai in Uttar Pradesh for a wedding, the police officer said.
