U.S. looking forward to deeper engagements with Bangladesh, says envoy

Dhaka : Stating that Washington is proud of its relationship with Bangladesh following remarkable achievements on the socio-economic front, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Ambassador Tom Shannon said his country is looking forward to having deeper engagements with Dhaka.

The official release by the Bangladesh Embassy in the U.S. said that Shannon reiterated his country’s commitment to enhance Dhaka-Washington bilateral cooperation and work together on issues of regional and global interests, reports the Daily Star.

He was addressing the concluding day of the fifth annual partnership dialogue between Bangladesh and the U.S. yesterday in Washington, DC.

Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque led the inter-ministerial delegation at the two-day dialogue while the U.S. delegation was led by Shannon.

During the deliberations that started on June 23, both sides emphasised on enhancing bilateral relations. They also reiterated their commitments to work together on issues of national, regional and global interests.

Established in 2012, the U.S. Bangladesh Partnership Dialogue is a regularly planned policy consultation designed to advance the common agenda and opportunities for cooperation across the full range of bilateral and regional issues. (ANI)
