Umar Khaled, Anirban Bhattacharya get bail

New Delhi: The Patiala House court on Friday granted six months bail to JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya in sedition case. The duo have been accused of raising anti-national slogans in the university campus on February 9.

The court asked both the students to furnish bail bond of 25,000 each and one surety of same amount. The bail pleas were opposed by the Delhi police on the ground that they were the main organisers of the campus event.

Umar and Ariban were in the custody since 23 February after they voluntarily surrendered since there was serious threat to life.
