UN ceasefire in Yemen violated due to new clashes

London, July 11: A new humanitarian ceasefire in Yemen brokered by the United Nations was violated shortly after coming into force, with clashes being reported in the south-western city of Taiz.

According to the BBC, residents said that the Saudi-led coalition carried out air strikes on capital Sanaa.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) had called upon all sides to observe the truce from midnight on Friday.

At least 3,000 people have died since the coalition airstrikes began in March to drive out Houthi rebels in Yemen. (ANI)
