Unauthorized online center in Hajj House cancelled – Effect of Siasat’s news

Hyderabad: Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Department of Minorities Welfare, personally visited unauthorized online center in Hajj House and cancelled it. He was wonderstruck that an online Xerox center is functioning in Hajj House building illegally for the past five years and earning huge amounts of profit. No amount was being credited in the accounts of Wakf Board.

It may be noted that soon after the publication of news item in Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Omer Jaleel had instructed the officials of Wakf Board to furnish the details about this center but they did not provide satisfactory information to him. Mr. Omer Jaleel himself visited the center and inspected its functioning. It was functioning from the cellar of Hajj House. A complaint was made to him that this center is charging exorbitant amounts for Xerox and other online services. It was revealed that a sum of Rs. 300 per head was charged from Imams for filing online applications. It was noticed that the center had three computers, two laptops and a Xerox machine. Six persons were working in the center. Mr. Jaleel expressed his surprise that this center has been functioning for the past five years and the officials of Wakf Board are not aware of it.

On enquiry, the incharge of the center told that appropriate person has not been obtained from Wakf Board. He further mentioned that he has submitted an application in the Wakf Board for becoming a tenant which is pending.

The officials of the Wakf Board clarified that recently an application has been filed and rent has been fixed. On knowing the false claim that free services are being provided, Mr. Jaleel issued orders for the immediate eviction of the center. He was informed that the center was making use of electricity and other facilities but no money was being paid to the Wakf Board. It was revealed that this center was functioning under the patronage of some Minority institutions where huge amounts were charged for “Mee Seva” services.

Now that the proceedings of Hajj season has started, the secretary of Minorities Welfare instructed CEO of Wakf Board to remove this center and call for applications for another center. It was reported that this center enjoyed the patronage of Hajj Committee and Minorities Welfare Department officials.
