Underconstruction arch collapses in Hyderabad, three labourers crushed to death

Hyderabad: Three labourers were killed and two others injured when an underconstruction arch collapsed here on Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred in CB CID Gated Community near Vasanth Nagar in Kukatpally area.

The deceased have been identified as Nagabhushanam, Janardhan and Dharma Rao of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.

The injured were shifted to a hospital.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) ordered an inquiry into the incident. GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy asked town planning officer to probe the incident and submit a report.

The preliminary inquiry by town planning officials reveal that the permission given for the gated community in 2014 had no provision for the arch.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasihuddin visited the scene and supervised rescue and relief operations.

This is the second such incident in the city in less than 10 days. Two labourers were killed and 10 others were injured when an underconstruction building collapsed in Film Nagar in upscale Jubliee Hills on July 24.

GHMC officials said Film Nagar Cultural Centre was constructing the building without permission.
