Uniform Civil Code: Ummah responsible for foiling it – Zahid Ali Khan and other speakers

Hyderabad: It is the responsibility of Muslim Ummah to foil all the evil designs of the implementation of Uniform Civil Code. Such effort was also made during the reign of Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao but it was not on such a large scale. All the Muslims should get ready to face such efforts. Those who are bent upon implementing Uniform Civil Code are completely ready.

 

These thoughts were expressed by Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while addressing a public meeting organized by Muslim Shabban. Noted Muslim scholars and political leaders participated in the meeting. It was monitored by Mr. Mohammed Mushtaq Malik. Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Congress MLC, Mr. Mohammed Fareeduddin, TRS MLC, Mr. Ahmed Shareef, TDP MLC, Mr. Chand Basha, TDP MLA from Kadiri, Mr. Mannan Malik MLA, Jharkhand, Mr. Syed Zulfekhar, former MLA of Bidar, Maulana Hamid Mohammed Khan, Amer of Jamat-e-Islami, Capt. L. Pandu Ranga Reddy, Dr. K. Chiranjeevi and many others spoke on this occasion.

 

Continuing his presidential speech, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told all the Muslims should get united to oppose Uniform Civil Code as they did after the demolition of Babri Masjid. He also told that Siasat Urdu Daily is launching a massive campaign to oppose implementation of Uniform Civil Code. It is supporting the stand taken by All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He also told that whenever communal elements assumed power, such efforts were made.

 

Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir told that Congress played an important role in curbing such efforts during its rule. BJP’s efforts will disturb the secular fabric of India. He told that Shariat Law is a universal principle and there is no scope for anyone to change it. The issues like Triple Talaq, Inheritance etc are the personal issues of the Muslims. There is complete guidance to Muslims for all these issues.

 

Mr. Ahmed Shareef, TDP MLC told that all though TDP is an ally of BJP at national level, but  Muslim leaders of TDP will soon meet, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu and apprise him with the disturbance caused in Muslim community. He requested the Muslim Ulema to make use of English and Telugu means of communication to explain the significance of Muslim Personal Law. Mr. Mohammed Fareeduddin told that such efforts are in fact, conspiracies to weaken the unity of Muslims. He said that we should not compromise on this issue. He appealed to the Muslims to make the public meeting scheduled to be held on 13th November at Exhibition ground a success.

 

Mr. Abdul Mannan Malik, MLA of Jharkhand told that the unity exhibited in Hyderabad against Uniform Civil Code is worth appreciating. Maulana Shafi Ahmed Madani told that there is a need to raise a strong voice against such efforts. Maulana Hamid Mohammed Khan, Maulana Abdul Mughni, Maulana Abdul Aleem, Maulana Naseeruddin and other scholars appealed to the people to  participate in the All India Shariat Conference to be held on 13th November at Exhibition ground.

 

Capt. L. Pandu Ranga Reddy told that refraining from enjoying the freedom guaranteed in constitution of India amounts to violation it. He told that Muslims to form a joint forum with Dalits to face this issue.
