University contract teachers demanded that the government regularize their posts on Sunday.
Speaking at a press meet, Parshuram Aruri, Universities Teachers Associations Telangana State (UTACTS) said that a total number of 1300 contract teachers were working in the universities and they have been getting meager salaries.
“We asked the government several times on this regard, but the government was escaping by saying regularization is against University Grants Commission (UGC) Rules. While services of contract teachers of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab were regularized, how come our State has UGC guidelines as hurdles? asked Parushram. He asked the government to respond positively on their genuine demand. (NSS)
