Urdu will regain its lost glory under TRS Rule: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali expressed his confidence that “Urdu will regain its glorious past during the TRS government’s tenure”.

He was addressing an elite gathering of journalists, scholars and literary personalities after launching the second edition of “Urdu Media: Kal, Aaj, Kal” written by Dr. Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez, Chief Editor – GAWAH Urdu Weekly at Salar Jung Museum here on Saturday. He asserted that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is an Urdu-loving person and very fond of Urdu poetry. He is very much desirous to promote Urdu language as it is intertwined with the composite Ganga-Jamuna culture that Hyderabad is known for.

The Deputy CM lauded the services of Urdu journalists during the Telangana movement and promised to do something constructive for their betterment. He said, “Urdu is a sweet language, a symbol of secularism, brotherhood, love and affection.”

He advised the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), who attended the book launching ceremony as the Chief Guest, to come forward with mutual compassion to promote the Urdu language, and make Urdu medium students employable. He congratulated Dr. Fazil Hussain Parvez for his research work on Urdu media, published as a book – a 500 pages comprehensive compilation on everything about Urdu media.

Vice Chancellor MANUU Dr. Aslam Parvez, who has also been editing a science magazine in Urdu, said thathis ambition was to give a facelift to the status and state of the University, and emphasized on promotion of Urdu languages by providing bridge courses to Madarsa students and emphasized the need of improving communication skills of university students. He also assured that he will “strive to make the university richer in education and professional standards, including increasing employment prospects and operating with transparency in all matters.”

Chief Editor of nonagenarian Rahnuma-e-Deccan Urdu daily Syed Vicaruddin, Prof. Fatima Parven – Former Head of Department, Urdu – Arts College, Osmania University, Federation of TS and AP Minority Educational Institutions General Secretary Zafar Javeed, Director-Secretary for Telangana/AP Urdu Academy Prof. S. A. Shukoor, President – Socio Reforms Society Dr. Aleem Khan Falki also spoke. Syed Khaled Shahbaaz welcomed the guests and Convenor Dr.Shujath Ali Rashid proposed the vote of thanks.

Priced at Rs. 400, the book comprises 110 informative chapters replete with pictorial representations and serves as a reference book /encyclopaedia for students, scholars, aspiring journalists and working journalists. (INN)
