Uttam to lead Telangana Congress till next elections

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will lead the Congress party in the State till next general elections in 2019.

According to sources, AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has conveyed a special message to the Telangana Congress leaders that there would be no change in leadership till next elections. The message was conveyed during TPCC’s Executive Committee meeting held here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference later, TPCC Vice-Presidents T. Nagaiah and Mallu Ravi and General Secretary B. Mahesh Kumar Goud informed that AICC leader Koppula Raju has conveyed Rahul Gandhi’s message which stated that the new PCC body would stay will next general elections. “New PCC body would function without any interference from anyone,” they said.

They said that the TPCC Coordination Committee and Executive Committee would meet at least once in every three months to review party’s performance. They said newly appointed Vice-Presidents and General Secretaries have been assigned some specific tasks, which they must complete by April 30. The TPCC will prepare a one-year calendar of programmes.

They also informed that previously appointed Secretaries, Joint Secretaries and Spokespersons stand suspended. Similarly, the Disciplinary Action Committee too has been disbanded. They said new appointments on these posts would be made in the next few days. New DCC committees too will be appointed by the end of May. Further, 30 workers from each of 119 Assembly segments would be selected for special training and they would be operating directly under the AICC’s control.

The Congress leaders said that the party proposes to give more than 12% tickets to Muslim leaders in next elections. (INN)
