Uttam vows support to Dalits

Assuring that the Congress party will stand by Dalits and extend full support to them, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the attacks on dalits were appalling and President of India mentioned the same in his speech.

After hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 70th Independence Day celebrations here on Monday at Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam said that the attacks on dalits were a blot. The attacks on dalits were proving that they have no protection in the nation. The Narendra Modi government has utterly failed to provide protection to dalits. The Congress was the party that brought freedom to the nation as well as separate Telangana State, he said and made it clear that his party will wage war against the anti-people policies of the respective governments.

Congress leaders Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Ponnala Laxmaiah, V Hanumantha Rao, M A Khan, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Sampath Kumar and party activists participated in the program.

Later speaking to the media, Uttam said that the coordination committee will be held at Adilabad on August 16 at Ramleela Maidan. The public meeting will be held in the name of ‘Raithu Garjana’. Alleging that the K Chandrasekhar Rao government was neglecting farmers, Uttam said that the meeting will be held with the demands that the government has to waive off the loan of farmers immediately and acquire the land following the Land Acquisition Act-2013. He said that the TPCC will announce nine main demands in the Raithu Garjana meeting. He called upon the farmers to attend in huge number to make the Raithu Garjana meeting a big success. (NSS)
