Van der Burgh breaks 50m breaststroke world record at World C’ships

Johannesburg, Aug 04 : South African swimmer Cameron van der Burgh registered a new world record in the 50m breaststroke heats at the World Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old clocked 26.62 seconds to surpass the 26.67 he set at the 2009 World Championships, Sport24 reported.

Earlier on Monday, Van der Burgh had finished second in the 100m breaststroke behind winner Adam Peaty of Britain. (ANI)
