‘Vardah’: Jet Airways to re-accommodate passengersfor free

Bengaluru: Jet Airways today said it will re-accommodate all passengers stranded due to cyclone Vardah free of cost and expects situation to spring back to normal in the next five days.

“We are very clear, we will ensure that every stranded passenger who had to get in or get out, will be taken care of by Jet Airways — that means we will re-accommodate them subsequently. More importantly, this won’t come at any price. This will be absolutely free,” the airline Vice President Commercial (India) Praveen Iyer told reporters here.

To a query, he said the airline officials expect that things would get back to normal in next five days as the prevailing situation is similar to what it was last year.

“I can only recollect what happened last year. Last year, when Chennai was hit by a similar calamity, probably the same timearound, it took about five days for things to come back tonormal.”

“What we are seeing now is pretty much similar, ifnot worse. So our take is another five days and things willcome back to normal,” he said.

Iyer said as of now, he does not have cancellation numbers of flights flying out of Chennai, but it had cancelled close to 30-odd flights yesterday.

Asked about the losses incurred due to Chennai-rains last year, Iyer said, “Unfortunately, we don’t have the numbers for now.
