Stating that there was no objection in giving 12 percent reservation to the Muslims, AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao has demanded that the State government provide reservations to the BCs based on their population.
Speaking at Assembly media point here on Monday, VH said the State government has to increase the percentage of reservations to the BCs on the lines of neighboring Tamil Nadu State as it accorded 50 percent reservations to the BCs and the remaining to the SCs, STs and Minorities.
VH demanded that the Centre scrap the creamy layer system to the BCs and bemoaned that the National Commission for Backward Classes had recommended Rs 15 lakh as a limit to Creamy Layer certificate; but the Centre gave only Rs 8 lakh. He addressed a letter to the Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes to consider the recommendation of NCBC to increase the income criteria for Creamy Layer to Rs.15 lakh may be implemented in the first instance which will pave at least to reach 27 percent mark.
