Burhanpur (MP): In a twist to the Burhanpur Sedition Case, the alleged complainant denied filing any complaint against 15 persons who were arrested on sedition charges for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s Champions Trophy win. He also said that no such incident occurred and police framed 15 youths in the case.
It may be noted that on Tuesday, police said that at least 15 members of a community were arrested on sedition charges in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district for celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. Sanjay Pathak, officer-in-charge of Shahpur police station said, “Some people in Mohad village raised slogans in favour of Pakistan and also burst crackers on Sunday night after Pakistan defeated India in the finals of the Champions Trophy”.
“Subhas Koli filed a complaint on Monday stating that anti-national slogans were raised in the village after Pakistan’s victory. Following the complaint, 15 people were booked under Section 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) and Section 124 A (sedition) of the IPC . They were arrested on Tuesday,” he added.
Later, Madhya Pradesh Police withdrew the sedition charges but charged under Section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for “disturbing communal harmony”.
Now, talking to NDTV, Subhas Koli said that he had not filed any FIR and also claimed that police is harassing him and asking him to visit police station frequently after he filed the affidavit in the court.
