The party is accused of playing spoilsport by splitting Muslim votes and help Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the resounding victory in the electoral battle in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election.

AIMIM had fielded around three dozen candidates for the Uttar Pradesh and drew a blank in all 38 seats. The party failed to secure a single constituency in its electoral debut.

The saffron party didn’t field a single Muslim candidate,  but the AIMIM turn out to be hugely beneficial for BJP for diving the secular votes.

Owaisi’s AIMM’s party allegedly name as the ‘Vote Katuva’ party ( cutting into the votes of “secular parties”)

How AIMM cut into the votes of “secular parties”

The number of Muslim MLAs in the House came down to 24 from 69.

This is happening for the first time when the number of Muslim legislators will be lowest in the assembly and zero in the government.
